Board delays final handbook attendance rules after discussion of new state guidance

Administrators recommended approving other handbook updates now while tabling attendance language so the district can align policy with pending state clarification and avoid adopting language that must be reversed. The board voted to approve the remaining handbook updates while reserving the attendance section for reconsideration at the August meeting.
The board instructed administration to monitor state guidance, prepare explanatory materials for families ahead of registration, and return with a recommended attendance policy once statutory details are clarified. No formal change to attendance policy was adopted at the meeting.
