The Oxford School District Board of Education approved multiple certified personnel appointments during its meeting.
Motions carried to appoint Heather Szo as a first-grade teacher and Erica Rowan as the elementary art teacher at Quaker Farms. The board also approved David Gerwitz as interim assistant principal at Oxford High School. "I'm looking forward to a great start to the school year," Gerwitz said after his appointment.
The board confirmed Linda Cassella as the district’s director of special education; several members voiced support and Cassella thanked the board for the opportunity. The board also voted to approve Noah Langer as the district director of finance. Langer, who said he lives in nearby Monroe, thanked the superintendent, the search committee and the community for the opportunity to join the district.
Each appointment was moved and seconded; motions were recorded as carrying in the public record, with occasional abstentions by members who had not participated in the hiring discussion or were absent for prior meetings.
