Oxford district lauds ambulance partnership, pilots stop‑the‑bleed and CPR training; EMS course possible

Eric, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, told the board the district has been working with Oxford Ambulance and individual responders to expand emergency preparedness in schools. "They set up some area in the gym. People got to, you know, just see what it is, how to use them," Eric said, describing a staff walkthrough and demonstration led by the ambulance partners.
Eric said he and colleagues have discussed bringing an EMS certification course to the high school and have asked ambulance staff to deliver a written proposal. "I don't have numbers or idea yet," he said, adding that any course proposal would first be reviewed by the curriculum subcommittee before the full board considers it.
Eric credited specific ambulance contacts for the work: "We've been working with Seth... Brian Viger and I met with them over the summer," he said, noting their repeated support across district events and opening‑day professional development.
Board members welcomed the partnership and expressed support for advancing training and coursework if the subcommittee and administration can identify costs, scheduling and staffing. No formal action was taken; administration said it will bring a proposal and any required budget details to the relevant subcommittee once available.
