Representatives of Peosta’s Heart & Soul outreach presented results from a May 21 community event, reporting draft community statements built from resident interviews and surveys and announcing follow-up sessions on June 19 and June 22 to refine action items.
Robin, who presented the Heart & Soul monthly report, told the council the draft statements summarize what residents value — a small-town feel with access to larger-city amenities, recreation, strong support for education and safety — and that the committee will categorize suggestions from public input into actionable items.
“These statements will potentially [be] edited slightly based on that May 21st event,” Robin said, describing plans to finalize the statements at the committee’s next meeting and then share them with local organizations.
Committee members said turnout at the event exceeded expectations and praised the breadth of participation; staff and committee members noted they solicited input from diverse groups, including high-school students, to set meeting dates that would increase accessibility.
The Heart & Soul committee will meet next Monday at 5:30 p.m. to finalize the statements and then host two public sessions on June 19 and June 22 to gather additional action items and prioritize projects that reflect the community statements.
