Master Plan survey shows Shelby residents prioritize housing quality, business opportunities and sidewalks

"The Master Plan Update Survey was 32 questions long and received 129 responses," Taylor said, reporting that respondents identified housing quality, business opportunities, housing availability, improved streets, enforcement and sidewalks as the key areas needing major change.
The presentation summarized community feedback collected by mail and highlighted the priorities residents flagged for the Master Plan update process. Taylor told the commission the survey was designed to assess perceived needs across housing, business climate and infrastructure; the commission did not vote on any changes to the draft plan at the meeting.
Commissioners handled routine business before and after the presentation. Commissioner Paul Inglis moved to approve the minutes of the January 21, 2025 Planning Commission meeting; John Sutton seconded and a voice vote recorded all in favor. Later, Inglis moved to adjourn at 6:57 P.M.; Tim Horton seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting record notes there were no public hearings, no public comments and no member discussion on other items at this session.
