Shelby council approves equipment repair, routine minutes and bill payments

The Village of Shelby Common Council conducted a number of routine actions and approvals at its Jan. 12 meeting.
The council approved the minutes of the Dec. 22, 2025 regular meeting by voice vote after a motion from Steve Crothers and a second from Curt Trott.
Council approved payment of bills dated Jan. 12, 2026 in the amount of $81,019.88 (moved by Steve Crothers; seconded by Mike Termer). The roll-call vote was 6-0 with Samantha Gottschalk absent.
After reviewing repair estimates, the council approved a $3,843.36 proposal from Wolf Kubota of Free Soil, Michigan, to repair the Kubota snow blower (moved by Mike Termer; seconded by Steve Crothers). The record shows the repair was necessary after an engine-shaft failure and worn universal joints; two written estimates were cited in the staff report.
The agenda item to certify non-federal matching funds for the Safe Routes to School program was removed and received no action. Committee chairs provided brief reports, and Planning Commission Ex-Officio John Sutton noted a Jan. 20 public hearing on the Master Plan Update and the zoning ordinance review.
President John Sutton adjourned the meeting at 7:16 p.m. The minutes in the record are not official until approved at the Jan. 26, 2026 council meeting.
