Residents, parks volunteers and council highlight new trees, vandalism and sidewalk grant application

At the April 8 Carlisle City Council meeting, resident Terri Haddix provided an update on the Parks and Recreation board meeting and thanked council member Michael Kilpatrick for donating six trees that were planted earlier in the day at Roscoe Roof Park.
Council members repeatedly thanked park volunteers and staff for the planting. Council member William Bicknell urged residents to report vandalism at park facilities and to keep grass clippings off streets to protect storm drains and two-wheeled vehicles. Debbie Kemper reported vandalism to a basketball court and said she was disappointed.
Kemper and other council members also promoted upcoming community events: the Lions Club "Big T" drive-thru fundraiser starting at 11 a.m. (while supplies last), a community Easter egg hunt on April 19 with more than 15,000 eggs and signup giveaways beginning at 11 a.m., and the first Thursday Food Truck Night on May 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring the Carlisle cheerleaders and band.
Council member Tim Humphries noted a dedication of 69 feet of sidewalk at Fairview Home made possible by donated labor and materials; City Manager Chris Lohr said the city applied to the Ohio Department of Transportation for study funding for sidewalk extension projects ($65,000 for Central Avenue and $55,000 for Fairview) and expects to hear by July whether the applications are awarded.
The council thanked volunteers and adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
