School committee approves donations, handbooks, policies and a student field trip; designates MASC delegate

The West Bridgewater School Committee cleared routine business and several approvals at its meeting.
Donations: The donations subcommittee reported multiple donations of school supplies for the district from the PTO, Molly Smith, the Lions Club, Paula Bunker and Jan Fox, and Linda Sanity. The committee moved to accept the donations, the motion was seconded, and the committee approved the acceptance by voice vote.
Handbooks and policies: The committee approved revised elementary and middle/senior high handbooks reflecting updated committee policies. The committee also moved to adopt a set of policies as written, including an update to ACGB (Title IX sexual discrimination grievance procedure) that added roles for decision maker, appeal officer and IR facilitator; a committee member described the small edits before the vote.
MASC delegate and field trip: The committee designated Mrs. Lizardi as its primary voting delegate for the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) annual business meeting and named the mover as alternate. The committee also approved a middle/senior high out-of-state field trip for drama club students to see Hamilton at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Dec. 17 (after school hours).
Warrants, calendar and adjournment: The business manager noted a corrected warrant PDF in the packet and read warrant dates and amounts from the packet; the meeting recorded bill and payroll warrants for fiscal year 2025. No public comments were offered. The committee set its next regular meeting for Nov. 4, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Learning Commons and adjourned by voice vote.
