The St. James Township Board on March 25 authorized the supervisor to sign a contract with the Charlevoix County Road Commission to fund production of 3,000 tons of 23A aggregate at the French Bay pit, with the township's estimated share listed in the minutes as $19,147.63 and the CCRC estimate matching that amount; the minutes noted final costs will depend on actual tonnage produced.
Board member Cole moved the contract authorization and board member Gillespie seconded; the motion passed by roll call (Cole Y, Gillespie Y, Welke Y). The board also approved Road Fund amendments in a separate motion, again carried by the same roll-call outcome.
The meeting minutes recorded that the recent March 15–16 storm prompted commended response from both townships and the county, and staff reported the Government Center parking lot design is underway. The board also referenced an updated zoning ordinance that is currently out for public input and noted a planning commission liaison request.
