St. James Township board renews assessor contract, hires transfer-station staff and raises elected salaries

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the St. James Township board approved multiple personnel actions affecting township operations and elected-official compensation.
The board renewed a five-year employment agreement for Assessor Brook Milbrandt effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031, at a rate of $18 per parcel. The minutes state the township has 1,557 parcels, resulting in a fiscal-year payment of $28,026.00 for the assessor contract.
The board authorized the Transfer Station/Recycling Center to employ Darryl Butler Jr. as a part-time heavy equipment operator at the previously approved rate of pay, and separately authorized hiring a second part-time heavy equipment operator.
The board also adopted four salary resolutions for FY2026/2027: increasing the township Supervisor’s salary from $22,000 to $23,000; the Clerk’s from $22,000 to $23,000; the Treasurer’s from $20,500 to $22,500; and Trustees’ from $5,000 to $6,000. Roll-call votes for the resolutions were recorded in the minutes.
