Springport council adopts routine resolutions, appoints trustee and amends budget

The Village of Springport council unanimously approved a set of routine procedural items and resolutions during its Dec. 12 meeting.
Councilmembers approved the minutes of the Nov. 14 regular meeting and the Dec. 10 workshop. A. Ward moved to approve the Nov. 14 minutes with C. Ward seconding; C. Ward moved to approve the Dec. 10 workshop minutes, seconded by A. Ward. Both motions were recorded as carrying with Ayes from A. Ward, C. Ward, Barnette and Cavazos.
The council then adopted a motion by A. Ward, seconded by C. Ward, to appoint Keshia Severns to serve as a trustee for the Village of Springport; the motion carried with Ayes recorded for A. Ward, C. Ward, Barnette and Cavazos. Notably, the roll call at the start of the meeting lists “Severns” as absent; the minutes do not explain the apparent discrepancy between the early roll call and the subsequent appointment.
The council adopted Resolution 24-17 (Homestead Savings Bank) and Resolution 24-18 (PNC), each authorizing named individuals to make deposits, withdrawals and manage the village’s accounts with those banks. Motions for both bank resolutions passed on roll calls recording the same Ayes as other items.
Council also adopted Resolution 24-19 to appoint individuals to hold appointed positions and Resolution 24-20 to amend the village budget for the fiscal year March 1, 2024–Feb. 28, 2025. The minutes record that the budget amendment motion carried; specific line-item changes or amounts tied to the amendment were not included in the minutes.
The meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m. The council listed upcoming meetings for Jan. 7 (workshop) and Jan. 9 (regular meeting) in the minutes.
