Aurelia council approves ammunition purchase for local shooting team, rehires lifeguard and reappoints community center board officers

During routine reports at the June 15 meeting, Police Chief Brian Flikeid discussed the Alta-Aurelia Shooting Sports Team and the council approved a motion to purchase ammunition for the team not to exceed $2,000. The motion was made by Bleil, seconded by Johnson and carried on a unanimous vote.
The council also handled personnel and community-board business. Bruce moved and Johnson seconded to rehire Bryson Fredericksen as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at $14.50 per hour; the motion passed unanimously. In another motion, Nelson moved to reappoint Barb Evans as community center board vice president and Carla Peterson as secretary for three-year terms; Johnson seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Other agenda notes: the council tabled a bid for building demolition and briefly discussed the new water tower's design and color. Sue Johnson announced that the Aurelia Library will coordinate dates to host one of the 250th Anniversary Freedom Trucks touring the U.S.
