Standish to borrow $3.089 million for $5.314 million sewer improvement; drinking-water project bidded, asbestos removal reported

Mason said the Sewer Improvement Grant project totals $5,314,000. To cover costs the city plans to borrow $3,089,000; a grant of $2,225,000 has been received to cover the remaining balance. Mason presented these figures as part of the City Manager report without a formal council vote recorded on financing at this meeting.
Mason also reported that the Standish Sterling Drinking Water Project has been fully bidded and is expected to begin in late fall. Separately, he said asbestos had been removed from the Spartan Tire site; the removal cost reported was $20,800 and the site has been rebid for additional work.
