During its Dec. 9 meeting the Standish City Council reviewed multiple operations and maintenance updates. Staff said a water‑grant requirement calls for a water reliability study—the last study appears to date from 2000—and estimated the study will cost between $30,000 and $40,000; staff said the study will be put out for bidding and a contract will be presented to the council when bids are returned.
The City Manager reported that a cleaning service had recently cleaned City Hall and windows and proposed contracting monthly cleaning for 3–4 hours at $25 per hour; Spot Free cleaned windows for $150 and staff recommended window cleaning every two to three months. No formal procurement action was taken at the meeting; staff will return with bids or contract language as needed.
In other operational updates, City Manager Mason said the Standish‑Sterling School water project has started and progress is ahead of schedule with engineers monitoring work. He also noted a bank meeting on Dec. 12 to discuss demolition status at 307 N. Main St. and options for a condemned house on N. Cass St., and that several new downtown businesses are performing well.
