Standish council accepts $958,500 DNR Spark grant, authorizes Dobson Drain bond disclosures and approves parade route

The Standish City Council voted unanimously to accept a $958,500 Council of Michigan, Department of Natural Resources Spark Grant, authorized the Official Statement and Continuing Disclosures Certificate for Dobson Drain bonds, approved the Homecoming Parade route for Sept. 27 and approved switching to a new AT&T internet data line.
The Standish City Council unanimously approved a package of agenda items on Aug. 12, including acceptance of a Council of Michigan, Department of Natural Resources Spark Grant for $958,500 and authorization of disclosures related to upcoming Dobson Drain bonds.
Council moved quickly through new-business items after routine approvals. The council accepted Resolution 24-03 to accept the DNR Spark Grant; the motion was moved by Councilmember Winslow and supported by Councilmember Fleszar. A roll-call vote recorded YEAS from Fleszar, Link, Spencer, Winslow and Mayor King; there were no NAYS and the motion carried. The grant amount as stated on the agenda and in the council packet is $958,500.
On a separate action, the council authorized the Official Statement and Continuing Disclosures Certificate for Dobson Drain bonds. The motion to authorize the bond disclosures was moved by Councilmember Link and supported by Councilmember Fleszar; a roll-call vote recorded YEAS from Link, Spencer, Winslow, Fleszar and Mayor King, and the motion carried.
The council also approved the route and start time for the 2024 Homecoming Parade. Councilmember Fleszar moved to approve the route (starting at Lovett Lane, continuing to Grove Street and Orchard Street, then returning), with the parade set to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2024. Councilmember Spencer supported the motion and all were in favor.
Finally, council authorized an administrative telecommunications change to switch to a new AT&T internet data line and abandon the old copper lines. The motion was moved by Councilmember Link, supported by Councilmember Fleszar, and passed on a roll-call YEAS of Spencer, Winslow, Fleszar, Link and Mayor King.
All motions noted above were recorded as carried by council vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
