The Standish City Council voted to appoint Chris Niernberg to the council’s vacant seat at its Dec. 9 meeting. The City Manager reported that the open position had been advertised locally and that one letter of interest was received from Niernberg. Councilor Fleszar moved and Councilor Lincoln supported the motion to appoint Niernberg. The roll-call vote recorded YEAS from Spencer, Lincoln, Fleszar, Link and Mayor Kevin King; there were no NAYS and Councilor Myers was absent. The motion carried and Niernberg was seated.
The appointment followed the city’s published notice of the vacancy. No amendment or alternate candidate was recorded during the meeting. The council’s action filled the unexpired term pending the next scheduled election or any further procedural requirements under local ordinance.
