Student councils report Spirit Week and events; superintendent previews calendar and staff development

Student council leaders and the superintendent used the Dec. 15 board meeting to update the board on student activities and district calendar items.
High School Student Council presenters Selah Sprague and Elliot Turner reported strong participation in Spirit Week, plans for a Holiday Assembly and Movie Night, and that the Winter Formal theme was chosen by a student-body vote. "We are happy to report on a very productive and exciting month for the Student Council and the entire student body," the report said.
TSN Student Council presenters Alexis Rule, Abbie Wrisley and Loren Kinder described fundraising efforts (Santa Grams, candy canes, Santa hats), a cookie-decorating activity at a recent parade and ongoing after-school concessions. Nikkari Elementary Student Council presenters Owen Kinder and Owen Plont said their Sunshine Cart treats for teachers and a greeter program have been well received.
Superintendent Jennifer McKittrick reported that six staff from the district are attending a four-day professional-development workshop hosted by the RESD in Ithaca focused on attendance, family engagement and systems building; the training dates include Dec. 15–16 and Jan. 12–13. She also noted recent family events (Donuts with Dads, Mornings with Moms, Winter Family Event) and calendar items: the last day before holiday break is Dec. 19, staff and students return Jan. 5, 2026, and the end of the first semester is Jan. 16.
The updates were presented with no board discussion recorded in the minutes.
