Commission approves multiple county contracts, training and site work including $1.29M auction guarantee for six dump trucks

At its Feb. 10 meeting, the St. Clair County Commission approved several procurement and operational actions ranging from equipment sale agreements to training contracts and site-clearing work.
Staff reported that JMwood Auction Company guaranteed a gross amount of $1,290,000 for six Mack dump trucks if vehicles arrive before the March sale; the company would honor that amount at the June sale if not. The commission approved the auction agreement by voice vote.
The commission also authorized staff to clear and inspect a City of Asheville-owned site on Highway 11 near Dietrich Road (a former detention-center parcel) to assess its suitability for county purposes, with limited clearing to occur over several days. Commissioners approved sending the road department’s equipment-shed project out to bid once final plans are complete.
Staff presented a $32,762 proposal from EZRI for on-site GIS training (54 hours) and up to 62 hours of remote assistance to complete linear referencing for county assets; funding will come from the county's fund 111, and staff said no budget amendment was required. Commissioners approved the contract.
Finally, the commission approved a $6,000 contract for radio advertising on River 94.1 FM to promote county assets; staff noted the action would require a budget amendment.
