St. Louis Board of Education approves $999,522.97 in bills, construction bids and multiple hires; reconfirms emergency plan

The St. Louis Board of Education on Monday approved payment of board bills totaling $999,522.97, authorized construction bids for a high‑school greenhouse and Camp Monroe renovations, and confirmed its Emergency Operations Plans.
The meeting, called to order by President Carrie Salladay, recorded four members present and three absent. In roll‑call votes the board approved payment of $999,522.97 in bills (Salladay, Pavlik, Bosquez and Trevino voting aye) and unanimously approved the reconfirmation of the district’s Emergency Operation Plans.
Board members also moved forward on capital work. Wolgast presented bids for Bid Pack 5 for the high school greenhouse; the board awarded that package to C&R Electric for $44,400 after a motion by Member John Pavlik and support from Member Carla Trevino. For Bid Pack 9, the board accepted a recommendation for the Camp Monroe renovation at $669,981 with the addition of a fire protection bid but excluding Alternate #1 site work and asphalt paving; that motion passed on a roll call vote.
Multiple personnel items were approved. The board accepted resignations from Justin Sahr (Middle School cross country coach) and Jeffrey Lombard (At‑Risk paraprofessional). The board approved the termination of Sheri Murphy, transportation (bus driver). It also approved hires: Holleena Switzer (special education paraprofessional), Miranda Holton (transportation supervisor), Darren Palmer (transportation mechanic) and Danny Buegar (JV boys basketball coach). Motions for these personnel actions were recorded as passing by board motion and support.
On extracurricular rules, the board approved a request to allow Sunday baseball practices at the high school by a recorded vote of 3 ayes and 1 nay. Member William Bosquez introduced information from the recent MASB conference and Superintendent Jennifer McKittrick provided an update on her informal evaluation goals.
The board moved into closed session citing attorney/client privilege under MCL 15.268(1)(h) and later returned to open session. The board also voted to table the Mental Health and Security Resolution.
