Student council reports and superintendent highlight winter formal plans and 26 BPA qualifiers

High school and TSN student council representatives briefed the St. Louis Board of Education on upcoming student events and fundraising efforts during the Jan. 19 meeting.
Lily Wing, presenting the High School Student Council report, said the council’s primary focus has been final coordination of the Winter Formal, planned for the upcoming weekend, and described completed tasks including a social media campaign, sales and check-in logistics, theme design, and volunteers. Wing also announced that "Mrs. Kisser was selected as the recipient of the December 'Tide Turner' Award," a student-led recognition of staff.
Alexis Rule presented the TSN Student Council report and thanked board members for their service, noting plans for Cookie Grams in February, Read Across America Day activities in March, after-school concessions and concessions at home sporting events, and brainstorming for spring semester activities.
Superintendent Jennifer McKittrick reported that Jan. 19 was the first day of the second semester, reminded the board of an early release on Jan. 21 for teacher professional development and an incentive tubing trip for middle school students on Jan. 23, and noted that "we had 26 high school students qualify for the BPA State Leadership Competition," which will take place March 12–15 in Grand Rapids. McKittrick also thanked board members for Board Appreciation Month and noted plaques from the Shark Tooth Woodshop presented as tokens of appreciation.
