The Standish-Sterling Community Schools Board voted 4-0 on June 16 to adopt the 2025–26 school year budget and to approve bills and payroll totaling $1,379,597.15 from the General Fund.
Business Manager Jennifer Malik presented information on the current fiscal year and the proposed 2025–26 budget during a budget hearing before formal action. The board then approved amendments to the 2024–2025 budget; Jeffrey Ryan moved to approve the FY25 budget amendments and Curt Ratajczak seconded. The motion passed unanimously (Yea: 4, Nay: 0, Absent: 3).
On the payments, Board member Curt Ratajczak moved and Jeffrey Ryan seconded a motion to "pay bills 52278 - 55431 and the payroll wire transfers in the amount of $1,379,597.15 from the General Fund as presented." The board approved that motion 4-0 (three members absent).
The board also approved the district's 2025–26 budget: "I move to approve the Budget Adoption for the 2025-2026 school year," a motion made by Curt Ratajczak and seconded by Jeffrey Ryan, which passed unanimously. The adoption follows the public presentation by the business manager and internal administrative updates.
Separately, the board approved a one-year food service management agreement with Chartwells for 2025–26 and approved the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) membership resolution for 2025–26. Those motions each passed 4-0.
The meeting record shows no additional budget amounts tied to the FY26 adoption in the posted motion text; specific line-item allocations and the district's budget document were presented by the business manager during the hearing but are not reproduced in the transcript.
The board adjourned at 5:47 p.m.
