STANTON — The Stanton City Commission on March 10 approved several routine but consequential items on its consent and new-business agendas, including a $14,753.60 equipment purchase, a Tax Payment Policy and the city's 2026–2032 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The commission also tabled consideration of a Bulk Water Service Agreement until the document is reviewed and approved by the city attorney.
The motions were carried on voice votes. Commissioner Jacky McGill moved to approve the meeting agenda; Commissioner Tamara Kuhn seconded. Subsequent motions to approve the Feb. 24, 2026 minutes and the accounts payable report through March 6, 2026 were each approved after similar motions and seconds by commission members.
Why it matters: the CIP adoption sets the city's capital priorities and spending framework for 2026–2032; the equipment purchase of $14,753.60 (Kennedy Industries) and the approved Tax Payment Policy affect near-term departmental operations and municipal revenue handling. The Planning Commission's 2025 annual report was accepted, recording planning activity that the council will use to inform future zoning and sidewalk improvements referenced by the city manager.
Key actions taken: - Approved quote from Kennedy Industries for $14,753.60 (motion by Commissioner Tamara Kuhn; second by Commissioner Lewis Corwin; carried on voice vote). - Approved a Tax Payment Policy (motion by Commissioner Chuck Miel; second by Commissioner Jacky McGill; carried on voice vote). - Accepted the 2025 Annual Planning Commission Report (motion by Commissioner Jacky McGill; second by Commissioner Tamara Kuhn; carried on voice vote). - Approved the 2026–2032 Capital Improvement Plan (motion by Commissioner Chuck Miel; second by Commissioner Tamara Kuhn; carried on voice vote). - Tabled the Bulk Water Service Agreement until it is sent to and approved by the city attorney (motion by Mayor Pro Tem Jane Basom; second by Commissioner Tamara Kuhn; carried on voice vote).
The minutes record routine departmental updates from the Police Department (including a case update and an AED grant) and a written Public Works report. The meeting closed with the commission's adjournment at 7:09 PM. The Bulk Water Service Agreement will return to a future meeting after the attorney's review; no final action on that contract was taken at this session.
