Following that presentation, Sierra, the districtdirector of athletics, described a companion revision to Policy 6145.2 aimed at juniors and seniors: the athletics eligibility standard would change from five-and-a-half academic credits plus 0.5 physical-education credit to a straight minimum of five credits enrolled. “The only revision is wemust be enrolled in a minimum of five credits total,” Sierra said, noting the change was directly related to the graduation-credit update and that she had cleaned up repetitive language in the policy document for clarity.
A committee member moved to send both policies to the full board for approval; the motion was carried by voice vote in committee. The subcommittee recorded the action as advancing the items to the next full-board meeting in September (Policy 6146) and as part of the subcommitteeagenda for referral (Policy 6145.2).
Why it matters: lowering the district PE requirement brings BristolSchool District policy into parity with state minimums and triggers downstream changes, such as the districteligibility standard for athletics.
