Committee says City landscaping responsibilities need written agreement; panel will shift to programming updates

Miguel Gautier, Jr., Executive Director of District Operations for the New London School District, told the committee on Oct. 15 that the City has continued to pay a contractor to perform landscaping tasks the City previously handled and that the District currently assigns staff to do the work the City did not complete. Gautier said there is no written agreement with the City outlining responsibilities and that the District will raise the issue again at the School Maintenance and Building Committee to seek accountability and a formal arrangement.
Gautier also reported that with fewer construction projects anticipated, this committee will receive more updates on in-building programming and that meetings may move from monthly to every other month. Committee Chair Susan Hambey and Committee Member Alisha Blake thanked staff for their work on construction closeout and programming transitions.
No formal action was taken on landscaping arrangements or the committee schedule; Gautier described these as operational items that will be resolved through further discussion with the City and within the district's standing maintenance committee.
