Poweshiek County awards $1.3 million contract for Pleasant Township bridge replacement

The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors on June 25 awarded a $1,299,521.21 contract to PCI for a bridge replacement northeast of Ewart on 100th Street in Section 15 of Pleasant Township.
County Engineer Lyle Brehm presented the bid results, saying bids were opened in Ames on June 16 and that PCI submitted the low bid. Brehm recommended the board award the project to PCI and direct Poweshiek County Auditor Melissa Eilander to sign the contract documents when they are returned to the county.
On a motion by Jacki Bolen and a second by Jason Roudabush, the board approved the award 2-0. The minutes state the county will make payment through the Auditor’s Office and that the project cost will be reimbursed to the county by federal funding.
The board’s action identifies the project as BROS-CO79(73)--8J-79. The award authorizes the auditor to execute contract paperwork; the minutes do not specify a construction start date or a contractor timeline.
