In recreation funding, the board approved round-20 awards from AR funds, including a $10,000 request for Madison Little League; because the league has previously received funding, the board capped the award at 30% of the $20,000 project cost, which equates to a $6,000 award. The vice president of softball and others spoke in support of the project.
The board also accepted a private athletic donation of $14,000 (with the possibility of increasing to $20,000 depending on ARPA approval of $6,000). After a motion and second, the board voted to accept the gift.
All motions passed on voice votes.
Board members said the awards and donations will support local youth sports and services and that follow-up processing will issue checks and confirm ARPA eligibility where required.
