A $29,000 request for window replacement was tabled after members learned that the recipient had been awarded a $150,000 grant by a bonding commission.
Director of Operations (role stated in the discussion) explained the largest equipment line would buy a diagnostic machine, a tire-changing machine and a balancer; staff said in-house work could reduce labor costs currently paid to dealers. Board members pressed whether police vehicles under warranty would be serviced in-house and whether that would create liability or warranty issues; the Director of Operations said warranty considerations had been discussed with the police chief and that priority handling of police vehicles could be managed.
After discussion, members proposed and approved trimming the public works equipment package down to the diagnostic and related items (the board identified a reduced equipment total during debate) while keeping the sign, generator and other community items. The $29,000 window request was tabled because the entity reported receiving a separate $150,000 grant and will pursue that funding.
