Council approves $15,000 allocation for Fourth of July parade security

The Enumclaw City Council approved Resolution 1881 on June 22 to authorize an amendment to the service agreement with the Chamber of Commerce to allocate funds for Fourth of July parade security.
Parks Director Lina Hicks said the resolution would authorize the use of $15,000 previously authorized by the council, broken down as $8,500 to provide barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime compensation for six additional city staff, and $4,000 allocated to the Chamber for hiring security and event staffing. "So the funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
Council moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and the council approved the amendment by voice vote. The allocation follows earlier council authorization of the total amount and formalizes how that money will be distributed among barriers, city staffing overtime and Chamber expenses.
