Water superintendent seeks estimates for tower cleaning, sewer work and sludge analysis

Chad Gordon, Shelby’s water superintendent, told the City Council at the Jan. 22 budget work session that he is obtaining estimates for several maintenance items: water tower cleaning, jet-cleaning the sewer system, repairing a damaged sewer line and conducting a sludge analysis.
Gordon said those items will be incorporated into the department’s budget requests for the upcoming fiscal cycle. The council did not take a formal vote on funding during the session; the discussion was part of the council’s ongoing budget development process.
Next steps: Gordon will return cost estimates for the council to review at future budget discussions scheduled for Feb. 6 and during the effort to finalize numbers by the end of February.
