The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority took up an unsafe-building order for 312 Mill (Chandler Street) and set the matter over to its May 20 meeting after the property owner reported progress.
Theresa Nagel, who identified herself as the owner, told the board she recently passed a rough plumbing inspection and a rough framing inspection of the interior, and that she expects to have the plumber return to install trim and to finish construction by the end of April. "I passed the rough plumbing inspection a week ago, passed a rough framing inspection of the interior last week as well," Nagel said. "I mean, I'll be down with the whole house by the end of April."
The chair confirmed the owner was present and said he had driven by and observed the garage under construction. He then proposed, and the board agreed, to set the unsafe-building matter over for a status update at the May 20 meeting pending occupancy follow-up and paperwork. The owner asked whether she would receive an occupancy form to present before that meeting and the chair said it would be provided.
Why it matters: setting the matter over preserves the authority's ability to follow up while allowing the owner to complete required work; the board recorded no final condemnation or demolition action in the meeting record.
What’s next: the matter is scheduled for a May 20 status update and the owner indicated she will seek occupancy approval beforehand. The transcript does not include a subsequent inspection result or a final disposition of the unsafe-building order.
