Radnor board clears residential permits and approves Villanova turf conversion with tree replacements

A permit for 401 Audubon Avenue — which will remove four trees including two Japanese maples and a hickory as part of a site remodel — was approved after staff and the applicant corrected the tree count on the application.
Villanova University representatives described plans to convert an existing synthetic turf field to an FIH‑sanctioned irrigated synthetic surface for NCAA Division I play. The project requires removal of five trees (three maples and two dogwoods) and proposes three 3–3.5‑inch caliper Armstrong red maples (about 14–16 ft at planting), limbed to six feet to protect sightlines; commissioners approved the tree replacement plan.
Separately, Ryan Day of Shriner Tree Care reported that fundraising at the Wayne Music Festival raised $751 for tree planting and that his company will match the amount, creating a $1,502 donation to Radnor Shade Tree toward local tree planting efforts.
Approvals were conducted by voice vote and several motions were recorded as contingent on corrected application materials or documentation to be filed with township staff.
