A Blandford resident raised a noise complaint at the July 28 Joint Select Board and Planning Board meeting, saying loggers working on Nye Brook Road have been starting operations around 5:30 a.m. and that the early starts are harming the household’s health.
Board of Health Director Jennifer Girard told the board she will lead the town’s response by sending a letter to the logging company that explains the town noise bylaw and the penalties for violations. Dick Gates, chair of Blandford’s Conservation Commission, said he will reach out to the logging company and invite them to attend the Select Board’s Aug. 11 meeting to discuss the issue.
The board scheduled follow-up on the Aug. 11 agenda; no formal enforcement action was recorded during the July 28 meeting. The resident’s description of health impacts was noted in the public record; the Board of Health will pursue the next steps outlined above.
