Select Board approves warrants and seasonal landscaping contract; tables payroll items to July 28

The Blandford Select Board approved multiple financial warrants and a seasonal landscaping contract at its July 14 meeting and postponed several payroll payments until July 28.
Chair Cara Letendre moved to approve Warrant #26 (Special Warrant) and Warrant #28 Accounts Payable & Wired Payments; T. Cousineau seconded and the motions were recorded as "All in Favor." The board also approved Warrant #01 Accounts Payable & Wired Payments. Multiple payroll items (Warrant #27 payroll, Warrant #28 payroll and Warrant #01 payroll) were tabled to the Select Board’s July 28 meeting.
The board approved a contract with Blandford Landscape (Ryan Bengle) for seasonal mowing and edge trimming at town properties including Town Hall, the playground, the ball field, the veterans’ memorial and Watson Park leach fields; the motion to approve the contract was moved by Chair Letendre, seconded by T. Cousineau and recorded as unanimous.
Member J. Coury moved to temporarily adopt the prior union contract benefits for the Highway Department while the board reviews town personnel policy; the board approved the temporary adoption and scheduled a policy‑work meeting for August 22 at noon. Coury also moved to award Mario Godbout 60 hours of vacation time accrued under his former position in the Water Department; that motion passed as recorded.
In department updates, Highway Department representative Ray Hultay reported completed line painting, ongoing equipment training of Blandford staff, and work planned for Julius Hall and Blair Roads. Hultay said he has sought quotes for a highway building restroom and reported beaver control options with one‑time costs estimated at $5,000–$7,000 and annual cleaning costs of about $400–$600; he recommended trapping and will pursue contractors for the work.
The board voted to enter executive session under G.L. c.30A, §21(a)(2) to discuss strategy for negotiations with nonunion personnel and adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
