Dodge County nominates Jamie Carlson to NRIN board; highway superintendent outlines road and bridge work

At the Feb. 18 meeting the Dodge County Board of Supervisors received a staff report from Shelly Holzerland and nominated Jamie Carlson (Dispatch Supervisor, Fremont/Dodge County Communications) to represent Dodge County on the Nebraska Regional Interoperable Network (NRIN) Governing Board.
Shelly Holzerland, who has served on the NRIN Governing Board since 2015, said she is stepping down and recommended Carlson as a qualified successor. Chairman Missel noted the county benefits from having representation on the board.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert reported crews are digging ditches, installing culverts, patching potholes and sealing cracks while weather permits. He said he is working with Burns and McDonnell engineers on right-of-way matters related to the Fremont Municipal Inland Port Authority and participating in calls about Hub grants that fund shovel-ready sites and innovation districts. Huppert said engineers are preparing estimates for a bridge rehabilitation and overlay on County Road 2 and that the county’s 1- and 6-year Road Plan will be presented at the March 4 meeting. He also said he is working with state senators on LB1218, the Bridge Match Program.
Supervisor Beam reported the May Museum Board is considering transporting an old schoolhouse to the museum parking area at an estimated cost of $50,000 for use in an educational program.
