Road crews prep for winter; Luther Road box culvert work begins and traffic counts placed for Judy Ave. turn lane

Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert told the Dodge County Board on Nov. 12 that county road crews are preparing for winter by cleaning ditches, patching potholes, installing snow fences and readying sand trucks in Scribner and Fremont. He said a contractor has started the box culvert project (643) on Luther Road and estimated the work will take three to four weeks in good weather.
Huppert said Applied Connective will install a computer for a new Roads Department employee and that Speece Lewis Engineers are assisting with bridge inspections. A new loader has been delivered to the Scribner garage. A traffic counter was placed on Judy Ave. to assess volumes for a proposed turn lane onto Judy Ave. from Highway 77. He noted that most utility planning for the Morningside Road (Port Authority) project remains the City of Fremont's responsibility and that a Port Authority meeting is scheduled for Nov. 19, 2025.
