Ansonia students selected for China program; PCT Program secured five-year funding

District leaders said five Ansonia High School students will travel to China as part of the Chinese Bridge Program and that the PCT Program received five-year funding from The WorkPlace.
Assistant Superintendent Mr. Bergin told the board that five Ansonia High School students were selected to travel to China through the Chinese Bridge Program after a competitive process; he thanked Sara Crooks for her role in the School Climate Program.
Superintendent Dr. DiBacco announced that the PCT Program has secured funding for the next five years from The WorkPlace and said district leaders hope to partner with Quinnipiac University in the future. He also noted the district was selected for Responsive Classroom recognition and will begin identifying third graders for a new talented-and-gifted pathway next year.
Student representative Abdalla Hanaif said he had benefited personally from the high school's PCA pathway and that all fall sports teams made the playoffs; Mr. Phipps congratulated him on earning All-State recognition in soccer.
The board did not vote on program funding at the meeting beyond acknowledging the announced grant and partnerships.
