Ansonia board approves Grade 5 hire, Eagle Scout GaGa Ball pit and accepts CABE governance statement

The board voted to accept the certified appointment of Amanda Tamburrino as a Grade 5 teacher at Mead School. Assistant Superintendent Mr. Bergin explained the opening resulted from a staff transfer into a special-education position.
President Chris Phipps described an Eagle Scout proposal to build a GaGa Ball pit at Prendergast School; the board approved the project. Phipps explained the game is similar to dodge ball but played in a pit where players aim below the knee to eliminate opponents.
The board also accepted a packet containing the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) School Governance Position Statement; Superintendent DiBacco recommended members read it as a refresher. All three motions carried in recorded votes.
