Select Board approves Revolutionary War marker for Jethro Jones Road

The board granted Mary Hull (DAR) permission to place a Pomeroy Foundation-funded historic marker for Revolutionary War veteran Jethro Jones at Blair Road and Jethro Jones Road and authorized the Highway Department to install it.
Mary Hull told the Select Board she received a Pomeroy Foundation grant through the Daughters of the American Revolution to place a Revolutionary War-era historic marker commemorating Jethro Jones, who has no gravestone. Hull requested Select Board permission to mount the sign on town property at the junction of Blair Road and Jethro Jones Road so it will be visible to passersby.
Chair Cara Letendre moved to allow installation of the marker on town property and directed Hull to coordinate with the Highway Department for placement; the motion was seconded by T. Cousineau and passed with all in favor. Hull noted an online registry lists historic markers across Western Massachusetts and said she will work with Highway staff on installation logistics.
