Blandford water commissioners move to cover hydrant repairs, appoint interim superintendent

Blandford's Water Commissioners reported at the June 30 joint meeting that they are arranging fund transfers to refund the Water Department for hydrant repair invoices and that one invoice has already been paid.
Commissioner B. Curry said the department is coordinating with the finance office to complete transfers so outstanding invoices can be paid. Commissioners noted that Steve/Seve Grondin (reported variously in the minutes) is handling daily operations effectively and recommended his appointment as Interim Superintendent.
Chair Cara Letendre moved to appoint Seve Grondin as Interim Superintendent of the Town of Blandford Water Department; the motion was seconded by T. Cousineau and approved unanimously. The boards also approved an interim raise for Grondin; the Treasurer is processing retroactive pay.
Commissioners discussed updating the Water Superintendent job description and scheduled a meeting for Aug. 24, 2025 to bring suggested changes to the Select Board, including whether the role should be a 40-hour position. The boards also discussed the Kanna property on Chester Road and agreed the repair agreement should be edited to include driveway repair; Water intends to replace the driveway given the commissioners' assessment that the damage is small.
