Ansonia Board votes to add two half days to 2025–26 school calendar

At a March 6, 2026 special meeting, the Ansonia Board of Education approved a motion to add March 13 and May 22 as half days to the 2025–26 school calendar.

Superintendent DiBacco told the board that a recent snow day pushed the district’s last scheduled day of school to June 17 and that the district had surveyed families and staff. He reported that “over 70% of parents as well as staff” favored adding the two days back into the school year. Mr. Bergin read the questionnaire that had been distributed to families and staff members.

Board members voted on a motion “to add March 13th and May 22nd as half days in the 2025-2026 school year calendar.” The transcript records the motion and a roll-call vote; the meeting record shows a total of five votes recorded in favor. The transcript does not map each individual yes/no vote to specific members in the published vote table.

There were no members of the public who wished to speak during public session, and the board completed business and adjourned at 2:25 p.m. The meeting minutes were signed by Cassie Venson, recording secretary.

The action will change two scheduled noninstructional or previously canceled days into half days for the 2025–26 year, which the superintendent said would move the final day of the school year earlier than June 17.
