Ansonia Board approves 2026–27 calendar, hires two SLPs and accepts teacher retirement

The Ansonia Board of Education on Feb. 11 approved its meeting minutes, adopted the 2026–2027 school calendar and accepted several personnel actions, the board recorded.
The board voted to accept minutes from Jan. 14 (regular), Jan. 21 (finance) and Jan. 28 (special). Assistant Superintendent Steve Bergin described the proposed 2026–27 calendar as closely resembling this year’s schedule and said there were no concerns raised by board members; the calendar was approved by the board.
Superintendent DiBacco reported two certified replacement hires at Mead School: Annastasia Layton as a Speech and Language Pathologist for grades K–5 and Tiffany Velazquez as a Speech and Language Pathologist for PreK. The board moved to accept both appointments.
The board also moved to accept the retirement of William Izzo, a History and Language Arts teacher at Ansonia Middle School; Superintendent DiBacco praised Mr. Izzo’s many years of service.
