Dodge County adopts new security, access and parking policy for courthouse

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a new Security, Access and Parking Policy for county facilities on Feb. 4, 2026 after a presentation by Sheriff Weitzel.
The policy adopted by the board includes two additions discussed at the Jan. 21 meeting and presented to supervisors this morning. One addition requires that "Elected Officials and Department Heads will see that each of their employees are following these guidelines." The other addition provides an exemptions clause: "Exemptions – The Sheriff will have the final approval for exemptions (to the policies) if necessary." Sheriff Weitzel presented the policy to the board before the vote.
The policy is scheduled to take effect Monday, March 2, 2026. County officials did not identify any implementation tasks or departments assigned in the meeting discussion beyond the language in the policy itself.
The board recorded the action as a unanimous vote. No public testimony or opposition was recorded during the meeting minutes.
