Council appoints Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Jennings as EMA coordinator

Mayor John Lewis presented for the council's advice and consent the appointment of Bryan Jennings, Assistant Fire Chief, as the city's Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Coordinator. City Manager Mary Ellen Bechtel told the council that the appointment replaces the current coordinator, former Fire Chief Kevin Sargent, and that by ordinance the appointment remains until removed or a new appointment is made.
Council Member Mike Young moved to accept the appointment; Council Member Donte Moore seconded the motion. The council recorded unanimous yeas (Botch, Gliosci, Moore, Young, Lewis) and approved the appointment.
Bechtel and the mayor gave no further schedule for Jennings' transition or any changes to EMA responsibilities during the meeting. The appointment will stand until the council takes subsequent action to remove or replace the EMA coordinator.
