Selectmen send proposed 2026–27 budget to Board of Finance and request LoCIP allocations for three projects

The Board of Selectmen made final adjustments to the proposed 2026–27 budget and voted to send it to the Board of Finance. The Sharon Board of Selectmen reviewed final adjustments to the proposed 2026–27 budget and voted to send the proposal to the Board of Finance for further action.
Adjustments recorded in the minutes included inserting interest to be paid on a temporary loan for capital improvement projects, modifications to the Assessor’s budget, and minor changes in Parks & Recreation budgets. After discussion, Mr. Brett moved that the proposed budget be sent to the Board of Finance; Ms. Kearcher seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The board also moved that the BOS request the Board of Finance to approve LoCIP allocations to be placed on the Town Meeting warrant: $20,000 from Entitlement funds to update the Town Plan of Conservation & Development; $49,999 from Grant funds for the topcoat of West Woods Road #1; and $49,999 from Grant funds for the topcoat of Boland Road. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the board authorized First Selectman Flanagan to engage Rose Kallor Attorneys at Law to review the draft Employee Handbook, with expenses charged to the Town Counsel line. The meeting concluded with routine community updates and adjournment at 5:50 PM.
