Sharon selectmen offer Parks & Recreation director job to Bryan Failla; hire Darin Anderson as road maintainer

First Selectman Flanagan called a special meeting of the Sharon Board of Selectmen to order at 9:45 a.m. March 3 at Town Hall to decide on filling two town positions.
After each board member offered perspectives on the candidates for Parks & Recreation director, Selectman Brett moved to offer the position to Bryan Failla at an annual salary of $57,103. The motion was seconded by Selectman Kearcher and approved unanimously by the three Selectmen present.
The Board then considered applicants for a non-CDL Road/Facilities Maintainer. The Board noted the union contract allows the town to start a new hire at a reduced hourly rate during a 180-day probation period, but members agreed qualifications justified offering the position at the current union rate for a laborer. Selectman Brett moved to offer the position to Darin Anderson at an hourly rate of $25.00, with the rate to increase to $25.75 per hour when the new union contract takes effect July 1, 2026. Selectman Kearcher seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
With no further business, Selectman Brett moved to adjourn; Selectman Kearcher seconded and the board adjourned at 10:00 a.m. The minutes were submitted by Town Secretary Tina Pitcher and later filed by the Office of the Town Clerk on March 9, 2026.
