Select Board accepts subcommittee decision not to take small lot donation for Sugarloaf Trail parking

Select Board member Ken McInerney reported on Nov. 4 that natural debris were mistakenly placed on Map 5 Lot 015 instead of town-owned Map 5 Lot 016 during Oct. 28 cleanup. After cleanup and "lessons learned," the Woodlands Partnership Subcommittee decided it will not pursue a donation of a small parcel from the owner of Map 5 Lot 015 to create a Sugarloaf Trail trailhead parking lot.
Mark Phelps moved that the Select Board accept the subcommittee's decision and pursue alternative uses of the related grant funds. Jason Jayko seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Ken McInerney also noted the town received an email from MTWP asking whether town-owned land is available for a group walk to identify trees, shrubs and flowers; he suggested the old bog trail or the Sugarloaf Trail off Bauer Road. He added that events of more than 30 people require a 45-day notice to DCR.
