Wymore — The Wymore City Council on Aug. 7 voted to have the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) prepare an income survey after a HUD report indicated the city is no longer eligible for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
The decision followed a report from Tim Sedlacek that the HUD review showed the city fell below the 51% low‑to‑moderate‑income (LMI) threshold used for CDBG eligibility. Council member Max Allen moved to proceed with SENDD preparing the survey; Neil Van Boening seconded and the motion carried 4‑0.
Sedlacek told the council that SENDD would handle the survey and that the city’s only expected fees would be for hard costs such as postage and envelopes. The council asked for representation from SENDD at a future meeting if additional details are needed.
The survey is intended to produce the local income documentation HUD requires for CDBG qualification. No dollar amount for the survey administration was recorded in the meeting minutes; the council limited the city’s direct expense to routine, hard costs.
Next steps: SENDD will prepare the survey and the council will consider the results as part of any future application for CDBG funding.
