Select Board reviews ANR to add buffer around Old Schoolhouse; mowing area to shrink

The New Ashford Select Board reviewed a proposed ANR (approval-not-required plan) from Steepleview New Ashford LLC on Oct. 7 that would deed 10 feet to the Old Schoolhouse boundary on the church side, creating a 20-foot buffer between the building and the property line.
Steve Nielsen asked the board to provide supporting language for the ANR, saying the plan “accurately depicts the boundary lines of the subject properties, all of which are agreed upon by the Town of New Ashford, Massachusetts through its Select Board.” Nielsen said he will contact the Planning Board to file the ANR and can place ground-level marker pins. The board noted town legal research on the matter was inconclusive and that an ANR from 1987 is on file.
Ken McInerney made a motion to accept the offer to add 10 feet to the Schoolhouse boundary; Jason Jayko seconded the motion. The transcript records the motion and second but does not record a vote outcome for that motion.
As a result of the proposed boundary change, the town confirmed it will mow only the area within the new Schoolhouse parameters. The board asked Pete Rancourt to consider and report a revised charge for mowing services given the smaller lawn area at Town Hall and the altered Schoolhouse boundary.
