MLP manager asks insurer to reopen claim and schedules broadband equipment upgrade talks

MLP Manager Ken McInerney told the Select Board that Commerce Insurance needs to reopen a claim the town submitted for pole and fiber damage from a car accident for reimbursement to proceed. He said the town will pursue that administrative step so the town can be reimbursed for repairs.
McInerney also reported plans for a meeting with John Leary of Whip City to discuss upgrading equipment in the town's fiber hut. He said the town's fiber has been in service for about five years and that an equipment upgrade could position the system for future 5G compatibility and potentially reduce backhaul costs. McInerney said Whip City technician Andrew Short had not responded to emails regarding the upgrade.
No formal procurement or contract amendment was approved during the meeting; McInerney indicated the upgrade discussion is in the planning stage and will be scheduled with Whip City representatives.
