Road Commissioner Keith told the Select Board on Aug. 5 that he cleared an oak from Ingraham Road and provided cost options to connect the Town Hall water supply to the neighboring church. Keith offered to perform the job for $11,900, describing the cost as $6,000 for excavation, $5,500 to drill under the road using a pipe puller and two cores, and $450 for the water line and fittings. He said that figure does not include the gas hookup, which the gas company would handle.
The board discussed using an in-house option to save money versus hiring an outside driller, which had been estimated at $15,000–$20,000. Chair Jason Jayko said he would follow up on title and permitting issues. Keith also said he will patch holes on Mallery Road, clean the swales on Beach Hill Road (responding to a public comment about clogged drainage) and remove an old see-saw metal from the Town Hall lawn; tree waste will be moved to town property on Ingraham Road.
The Select Board flagged that decisions about the well connection and possible related expenditures may require a Special Town Meeting; final authorization will depend on firm bids and any necessary permitting. No final vote or appropriation was recorded in the meeting minutes.
